On more than one occasion in the last 9 months, I've thought about a piece of advice in my head that I wanted to write down, but didn't think was important enough to write an article about. One of those pieces of advice made it to my blog (my post on re-throwing exceptions).

I've decided to add an Advice section to DotNetDevs to collect these pieces of advice. The differentiation between Advice and an Article is two-fold:

1. Advice is short, succinct, and generally represents my opinion on a best practice. The advice may be derived from some other source (which I will reference when possible). An Article is longer form, and generally intended to be educational on a specific technical subject.

2. Advice is intended to be something I generate in less than an hour's worth of effort, without peer review. Articles are extended efforts that include the author and selected review staff.

In addition to re-printing my exception advice, I've added a new piece of advice entitled Prefer Factories to Constructors. The advice items will appear in the DotNetDevs RSS feeds along side the articles.

Last, I added a blog-roll to the DotNetDevs site. The purpose is to list those weblogs that provide primary .NET technical content that is regularly updated.

Enjoy!
