What is Webogy LDS?
Webogy Lightning Development System (LDS) is a new platform for developing, housing, running and deploying secure scaleable, mission-critical web applications. It offers feature rich server, application and client services and consists of:
A programming model that allows developers to leverage high-performance C++ and windows-like HTML pages
A set of Browser services, including full form validation and user interface widgets that assist developers deliver a simple but rich and highly functional user experience
A set of Application services containing re-usable components and built-in functionality, relieving programmers from difficult and complex infrastructure development, and allowing them to concentrate on business logic
A multi-threaded execution engine that dynamically generates web pages and services web page submission requests
A managed environment wherein platform connectivity services for Internet protocols, HTTP parameter passing and user authentication are all provided.
The server architecture is totally data-driven, supporting dynamically loaded code modules, HTML fragments, SQL statements, Forms, Lookups and more. All data structures and memory blocks are preallocated and initialized at server startup, eliminating overhead and management issues as requests are processed. This design yields very impressive response times and scales to very high user loads. It supports both stateless, horizontally and vertically scalable designs, as well as the more traditional stateful, vertically scalable designs.
Why Webogy LDS?
Webogy LDS provides a cost-effective alternative, both in terms of server infrastructure and web-developer productivity, to existing application and development infrastructures offered by such vendors as SUN and Microsoft, J2EE and .NET, respectively. LAS is specifically tuned for high performance processing while providing a rapid web development platform for those organizations looking to maximize throughput and more importantly, preserving their current investment in C++ development, ensuring and leveraging existing expertise and development. It manages much of the plumbing, enabling developers to focus on writing the business logic code for their applications. The LDS Framework is comprised of:
Code Execution Engine
Application Server Engine
Platform Services
Browser Library Services
Summary
When developing or looking to host high-performance applications for the Web, developers and organizations no longer must choose a compromise between performance and ease of development. With LDS, you get both. LDS encapsulates application server functionality, a development framework and developer libraries all into one very high-performance application development engine written entirely in C++. Incorporating the latest web technologies, LDS can be used to develop high-powered Web Services, the next wave in the internet continuum. LDS facilitates the creation of web applications and services with little effort and/or knowledge required by the developer. The underlying complexities of developing applications and services for the web are exposed through simple functions and are further enhanced by a Project Wizard that handles all context and inclusions based on user-entered parameters, thereby exposing only those services required in your application. Application logging and performance metrics are available to monitor and optimally configure your application environment.
In addition, the light-weight hardware requirement of LAS makes it an optimal and cost-effective solution for any size of organization looking to materially benefit from moving their applications and services to the web. Furthermore, Webogy has a library of pre-fabricated business solutions available that were completed developed using LDS development framework and libraries. Examples include Issue Tracking, Web Chat and Message Board modules.
