Ten years ago today, Rasmus Lerdorf announced what would eventually become PHP.

Zak Greant has a great blog entry on the subject that sparked an interesting series of blog entries by other PHP developers.

According to bonsai, I made my first commit to PHP's CVS repository on August, 21 2000. It was a contribution to the German documentation. My first PEAR commit was on September, 28 2000, my first "Win32 build fix" commit was on November 6, 2000.

In May 2000 I met for the first a couple of other PHP developers at the Internet World fair in Berlin, Germany. In October 2000 I gave a presentation at the world's first PHP conference, the PHP-Kongress in Cologne, Germany.

Without PHP and the possibility to get involved in a project like this I would not be the person I am today: I would not write articles or books, I would not attend and speak at international conferences or do consulting and training work. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rasmus, Andi, Zeev, and all the others who work on PHP every day and make it a worthwhile project to work on.
