I am back from my trip to this year's LinuxTag. In the past I stayed for the entire week but this time around I could only stay for one-and-a-half days.
On Thursday I woke up at 3:00 AM and could not sleep anymore. At 7:12 AM I took an ICE 3 train to Karlsruhe where I arrived at 8:59 AM. About fifteen minutes later I signed in at the venue and, after a first stroll through the exhibition area, said "Hello!" to my peers at the LAMP Area and Gentoo Linux booths.
At 1:00 PM Kristian Köhntopp opened the Serendipity Birds of a Feather session with a presentation. I had to leave this session early to get set up in time for my "PHP 5 - Ein Jahr danach" presentation that I gave as part of the "LAMP Day" in the Practical Linux Forum.
After attending the "10 Years Anniversary of PHP and MySQL: A Retrospect" panel (with Rasmus Lerdorf, Michael Widenius, and Zak Greant), Kristian and I left the venue at about 6:00 PM for his place where both Garvin Hicking and I slept.
When I posted the "An Orgy in Chocolate" recipe for a Death by Chocolate like cake Kristian was one of the people who complained that I did not take pictures. As way of thanking him for offering me a place to sleep I broght him a cake. Pictures (before Kristian ate the cake :-) are here.
At 7:00 PM I followed an invitation from O'Reilly Germany to a dinner called "O'Reilly Radar". At about 9:00 PM I headed back home to Kristian's place where we had the rest of the cake and discussed various stuff until well after midnight.
After a breakfast I left Kristian's place on Friday at about 11:00 AM for the LinuxTag venue before I took the train back home at 3:00 PM.
