Normal Internet development entails HTML with HTML data with JavaScript with ASP/PHP with SQL. A joke. Even sophisticated template systems (eg. Smarty) use custom pseudo-code to glue presentation and code layers back together again. Ajax gets you really, really close to being able to completely separate the two. This article explains how.
