PHP 5.2 was released recently providing a solution to monitor file upload progress monitoring using only PHP code. However, over 90% of the PHP sites use PHP 4 or older PHP 5 versions. This post presents an AJAX COMET based solution to implement an upload progress meter that works under PHP 4.
