Feed Description: My bullshit, your brain.
Healthcare in the United States is totally fucked up. The health insurance and pharmaceutical industries are enormously influential, yet have some of the most perverse incentives in the history of capitalism. Government involvement is done completely wrong.
But man, this is a conversation America needs to have.
Thank you Michael Moore (Jesus, I can't believe I said that!) for keeping it at the forefront.
Full disclosure: This is an issue near-and-dear to my heart lately, because I might have to pay $1000 for a single visit to an Urgent Care facility in December. I woke up in the middle of the night, with a 104-degree fever and an infected (as it turns out, abscessed) tonsil courtesy of some extremely aggressive strep throat. I wasn't in any position to figure out who was in-network and, I figured, it's cheaper for everyone if I don't go to a hospital emergency room. Oops. And this is on my company's (previous) PPO health insurance plan. And I'm rich and I work for a fucking healthcare company! I refuse to believe this is the best we can do.
