i have started using vc++.net for my academic project.
can any one instruct me as to how to creat and call a dialog from the main dialog on the click of a button.
the requirment is that child dialog should be more or less be a modal based and will be taking some values from the user.

please can anyone help me

Since this is a C# forum, my first suggestion would be to do this in C#.

However, it may be you have some compelling reason to use managed C++ instead (if so, could you post it here? I'd be interested to know what it is (I would guess the most likely reason is you've already learned C++ and don't have the time or inclination to learn C# at the moment, but there may be more interesting reasons...)).

Anyway, assuming you know how to create the form and just want to display it modally, you would do something like this:
private: System::Void menuItemAbout_Click(System::Object *  sender, System::EventArgs *  e)
{
   AboutForm * aboutForm = new AboutForm();
   aboutForm->ShowDialog(this);
}

is it possible to create dialog based applications VC++ .NET ?

I don't want to use C# and I also don't want to use Windows Forms...
