It's really interesting to watch people bash an OS, when the apps really are the cause of some of the problems. Here's a great example.
The Mac OS X operating system is a multi-tasking OS, but IE 5.2 for OS X is an example of a poorly designed app that makes it look like the OS cannot multi-task. Try this: Bring up a web page in IE 5.2 and while the page loads, click on a menu item and hold the mouse button down (to keep the menu up). The browser stops rendering while the IE logo rotates for eternity. Once you let go of the mouse, the page then proceeds with the rendering. The problem is with the app and not the OS, but to the layman user the OS will get the blame.
