When choosing colors for web pages, GIF or JPG files, or Java applets, the first place to start is the browser-safe colors. The 216 browser safe colors, shown in various orderings in the color charts listed in the tables below, were originally chosen by Netscape to fill their color pallettes across platforms. These colors became the de facto standard colors for browsers, and as a result, are the least likely colors to dither inside browsers.

These charts show the browser-safe colors sorted in various combinations of R, G, and B:

1. Red-Green-Blue (RGB) Order
2. Red-Blue-Green (RBG) Order
3. Green-Red-Blue (GRB) Order
4. Green-Blue-Red (GBR) Order
5. Blue-Red-Green (BRG) Order
6. Blue-Green-Red (BGR) Order

These charts show the browser-safe colors sorted in various combinations of H, S, and B:

7. Hue-Saturation-Brightness (HSB) Order
8. Hue-Brightness-Saturation (HBS) Order
9. Saturation-Hue-Brightness (SHB) Order
10. Saturation-Brightness-Hue (SBH) Order
11. Brightness-Hue-Saturation (BHS) Order
12. Brightness-Saturation-Hue (BSH) Order
