If your company is heavily dependent on the Microsoft JVM, then you had better start looking around and migrate away from it, because one of the terms of the 2001 legal settlement between Sun and Microsoft was that as of January 2004, Microsoft would no longer be able to make any changes to its version of the Java Virtual Machine.
And if you are tempted to move over to .NET, then think back again on how Microsoft seems to screw over its developers and users time and time again, forcing them to migrate frequently to new , non-backwards-compatible platforms. Perhaps your ass is tougher than my tender behind, in which case I bid you, "Good Luck", "God Help You", "Vaya con Dios"....'cause, boy, oh, boy, are you ever gonna need it...
