I requested for a project/gig spec of a start up that wants this project/gig competed in 4 to 6 months. The Start Up mission is to create a new Journalism/News Industry Model and its a new model that I would like to be involved in helping define by the my ruby on rails creations.
The project would entail me becoming somewhat a full-time contributor to RailFrog CMS. The Start-Up founder, Dave Cohn, is someone I know from following his writing gigs and articles and his twitter musings. His Start-Up is Spot.us.
Basically, the Spot Us mission is to crowd fund news stories in communities that other wise would not get covered by journalists. Some other initiatives that Dave Cohn is involved in is both BeatBlogging and NewAssignment.Net which are efforts to see how beat blogging with a social network changes the way Journalism is practiced and used.
I believe in the Spot US mission because Journalism is one of the prized American Art forms from the works of Mark Twain both as a journalist and writer to the works of Tim Russert. We as Americans have been blessed by that American Art form and Institution called Journalism that certainly is if not a fully American invention a much better Invention for having the freedom of press that Americans so much enjoy.
Freedom of Press that all internet bloggers seem to also benefit from and without we might not have an internet or even its citizen journalism behavior. Hopefully, the adventure begins..
