This means that the underlying APIs used by Google are:
1. Google Data
2. Google Contacts
3. OpenSocial Api for the iGoogle Widget and Gears APi in Web browser
4. Google Maps API
That also means that there probably is a new activity field called location sharing and some other enum fields. which means that others can build on top of what Google did with Google Latitude.
This specifically was a way to show why Android is better than iPhone in terms of undelrying API services that developers can build on for mobile to make the case to Mobile Operators why they should consider deploying Android.
