Differences between Loopt and Google Latitude:

1. Loopt location shared among all Loopt users. In Google Latitude users specify which friends get their location data.

2. Google Lattidue privacy can b drilled downot individual on all settings.

This means that the underlying APIs used by Google are:

1. Google Data

2. Google Contacts

3. OpenSocial Api for the iGoogle Widget and Gears APi in Web browser

4. Google Maps API

That also means that there probably is a new activity field called location sharing and some other enum fields. which means that others can build on top of what Google did with Google Latitude.

This specifically was a way to show why Android is better than iPhone in terms of undelrying API services that developers can build on for mobile to make the case to Mobile Operators why they should consider deploying Android.
