The Roller developers are currently working with the JLCP to rework how Hibernate sessions are handled. The problem does indeed seem to be with the excessive opening and closing of Hibernate sessions, thus losing the advantages of caching that Hibernate provides on the session level. Hopefully Dave will complete a fix very soon so we can get FreeRoller back to being stable and happy.

Thanks to everyone for being patient and understanding.
