I love the city of London and it pained me to see them go through these brutal attacks. The thing that shocked me most about these latest attacks is how accustomed to terrorism we are becoming. One of the largest cities in the world is attacked and oil prices go down and the stock market ends the day in positive territory. Blair took a quick break from the summit but was back before the end of the day. No one was even really surprised.
I was driving to work the other day and saw these signs they have in Kentucky that state the number of deaths on the highways in 2004 and the count so far in 2005. It was something like 900+ in 2004, and that is just in Kentucky. We accept this body count because we love to drive, it’s part of our culture. Will terrorism become the same thing? Will we just accept terrorism as part of our culture?
