This post discusses changes to the Composite UI Application Block as of the October 2005 CTP release.

The following table describes the differences between the development tools for CAB. Things described under "1.0 Release" are our intentions and subject to change.

June CTP October CTP 1.0 Release
Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2
2.0.50215
RC (PDC)
2.0.50727.26
Final Release

NUnit Unit Tests NUnit 2.1.4 NUnit 2.2 NUnit 2.2
VSTS Unit Tests No No Yes
Hands-on-labs Yes

Date TBD

A couple comments on the table above.

First, we intend to provide unit tests in both NUnit and VSTS format for the final release. Based on community feedback, we upgraded to NUnit 2.2.

Second, the August hands-on-labs will not compile with the October CTP. We will release new labs around the time of our 1.0 release, although the exact date isn't set yet. In the meantime, our new doc person Alex wrote a great QuickStart called Walkthrough, including an accompanying PDF file (which you can find in the Help directory). This should serve as a good introduction to CAB for new users until we can get full hands-on-labs finished.

Finally, if you wish to use the CAB October CTP with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2, Daniel Pham from the CAB community has documented the changes you need make to the source to support this.
