Couldn't agree more. Thunderbird is masterful. Outlook Express is a joke.
I do feel obliged to point out, though, that the IMAP code in Thunderbird is still a little... well, I guess wonky is the only word for it. Thunderbird will crash once every few days, and only really started doing this when we moved to an IMAP-based e-mail system at work. For pure POP3, it's absolutely stellar.
