I have been so busy delivering an architecture that I forgot to blog on my own group's first meeting-) Luckily, Chris Pels did and reminded me. He's also got a picture there of me delivering my CLR Internals talk. Yes, the talk that started as a great idea from Julie as Overview of the CLR and Friends has morphed into CLR Internals with the new addition of CLI IL Verification and Garbage Collection. This is the version that the groups on the PA tour will get.
Chris says it best, “The new user group was formed to provide a venue for developers that work in downtown Boston and we hope people will be able to attend both groups thereby strengthening the Boston .NET developer community.” That is exactly right. We hope to provide a venue for the many developers in downtown Boston and I/we are working extremely closely with Chris' Boston.NET. We view the groups as complementary and providing more for you. We had about 12 people show up along with about 15 Adesso people for our first meeting. The group helped me come up with a list of areas they would like to see and we got a bunch of very eager volunteers. In fact, our web site committee has already organized, registered a domain and almost finished creating an initial web site! How's that for great people?! I am really pumped with the enthusiasm of our members. One thing we did find out is 5:00 is too early and 5:30 was suggested so people could still get trains after. We will indeed meet the first Thursday of the month and we have two great talks coming up (courtesy of our hard working Speaker liaison Kevin Hegg):
