Charles Miller notes some interesting failures by Cuil (the new search engine started by a couple of ex-Googlers). Like him, I have a few questions about how they decide to grab contextual images - an ego search for my name pulls up a random graphic from the website (for the 2008 OOP conference, as it happens). Two of the other results for my name share the same picture - which works well for the collection of dead guys who manage to all share the same image with another dead guy).

This is the kind of failure that makes you the butt of jokes, because it's so glaringly obvious and incorrect. The guys behind this might be very smart, but - to go back to D&D terms - they have really low wisdom...
