As unsatisfying as it might have been, maybe the initial response from MS/Danger on the Sidekick thing should have been less doomsday sounding - because now they are saying that most of the data is being recovered. Some people will lose everything, but that's a whole lot better than "everyone is hosed", which was the initial reaction:
Microsoft has good news for most Sidekick users: the company says it has recovered most of the data for T-Mobile Sidekick users who saw personal information accidentally wiped from their devices earlier this week.
This is one of the problems with the "instant reaction" culture that blogs and Twitter (et. al.) have bred: the perceived need to get a statement out fast. It's good to go fast, but going fast odesn't mean you need to sketch a worst case scenario. IMHO, they should have been willing to go with a "we fear the worst, but are still investigating" announcement. Sometimes, it's ok to admit that you don't know what you don't know :)
