Rampart is a plug-in module for Apache Axis that builds on Apache WSS4J to provide an implementation of the OASIS WS-Security specs for Axis. Security features include XML signatures and encryption, X.509 binary certificates and certificate paths, and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) tokens.

Apache Rampart is a module for Axis2 that implements the WS-Security specifications based on Apache WSS4J 1.5.0 and the Apache AXIOM implementation. The 1.0 releases includes, in addition to WSS4J features,

  • Ability to MTOM optimize parts of the message
  • Convenient and intuitive configurations
  • Mechanism to dynamically configure the module
  • Experimental WS-SecurityPolicy support
