Hello,

I was wondering if the next preprint version will be the final version, or if there is still one revision left before the paper book is published.

Can't wait to get my hands on the paper book 8)

Hi Jeff,

Right now I'm working on the last edit/formatting pass. I have over half of the chapters done, but it will be a few more weeks before I can send the final version to the printer. I think I should make one more PrePrint Edition here pretty soon once I get a bit farther, just to get some feedback on layout as well as content, so stay tuned. Perhaps at the end of this week or early next I'll do another PrePrint cut.

Sorry, everyone, for the delays. It comes down to a tradeoff between quality and time-to-market. Since people do have access to the information via the PrePrints in the meantime, I really prefer to take a bit more time to make the book even better here at the end. My current estimate is we'll have the printed books shipping at the tail end of August or very first of September. Believe me when I say that Martin, Lex, and I are probably looking forward to seeing the book done even more than our readers!

Thanks for your patience and support.

Bill

I'm very happy to read that you're favoring quality! The more accurate and complete the paper version is, the fewer yellow stickies I'll have to put in it to address them. Also, I won't be forced to buy the 2nd edition just to see those issues corrected. Er, forget I mentioned that last point.

Hi Bill,

I'm all for waiting a bit more to get a better book.

It is really an amazing book and I understand it's a mammoth job to get every detail right.

Thanks in turn to you three for your commitment!

While I am super happy you're waiting to release the paper version until "it's ready," it would be nice to get our mitts on the latest PrePrint sooner rather than later. :^)
