Nowadays one can easily access remote computers from anywhere in the world using Remote Access solutions; we use RemotePC (http://www.remotepc.com/) and whenever I am traveling and my team faces difficulties, I simply control their machines using RemotePC. It is very speedy and I can also transfer files if required. And the essential feature is we have never faced any safety issues till now because the data that is transferred during remote access is encrypted using 128-bit encryption.

Regards
Mary

01 Communique Granted a Patent. Posted: Aug 3, 2005 6:39 AM
Reply to this message Reply
TORONTO, ON - August 3, 2005 - 01 Communique Laboratory Inc. (TSX: ONE - www.01com.com), a leading remote access solutions provider, today announced it has been granted a patent (U.S. Patent No. 6,928,479) for the process whereby a centralized server acts as a "proxy" to facilitate a communications session over the Internet between two personal computers (PCs) from anywhere in the world. The result is a private communication portal providing features including, but not limited to, remote access and control functionality making it easy for people on the go to stay connected to their essential business information. The demand for mobile productivity tools, such as this, is large and growing rapidly. This patent provides 01 Communique with the opportunity to expand its revenue model by licensing the patented technology, in return for royalty payments, to other companies offering remote access and control products that make use of the patented technology.

"Business people are becoming increasingly more mobile with a strong need to stay connected. The result is a large and growing demand for reliable, secure, and easy to install and use remote access and control products. Our technology was designed to address these issues," said Andrew Cheung, President and CEO of 01 Communique. "The granting of this patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office demonstrates that the technology we developed to address these issues is unique and patentable."

About the Patent

The patent relates to a system for providing access to a personal computer having a location on the Internet defined by a dynamic IP address from a remote computer. The system comprises a personal computer linked to the Internet with either (i) a dynamic public IP address (publicly addressable) or (ii) a dynamic LAN IP address (publicly un-addressable), the personal computer being further linked to a data communication facility, the data communication facility being adapted to create and send a communication that includes a then current dynamic public IP address or dynamic LAN IP address of the personal computer. A locator server computer is then operable to act as an intermediary between the personal computer and the remote computer by creating one or more communication sessions in response to receipt of the request for communication with the personal computer. The location facility is then responsive to the request from the remote computer for communication with the personal computer to retrieve the current location and port number or the current communication session associated with the personal computer from the dynamic location directory, and provide this data to the personal computer.

Additional information regarding the patent will be available on or about August 9th on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Web Site at www.uspto.gov .

There are so many remote access programs, but this product is with lots of goodies they throw away. I mean the free online storage access and the remote data program itself is worth every dime spent.

Real value for money

I'd actually prefer using LogMeIn's free version for access, it's easier to use and a little bit quicker. This makes a big difference for me when I'm trying to provide remote support to multiple clients. They do have products that are more specific to a Help Desk environment, but I think I'll use the free version for now.

Remote Office Manager

http://aledensoft.com/

is the fast tool for remote access and interactive system administration. This software lets you work on another computer remotely through your own fast enough to watch real-time video. You see the remote computers screen in a resizable window on your own monitor or as the full screen. Your mouse and keyboard control the remote computer so you can work on the remote computer just as if you were sitting right at it.

Remote Office Manager (ROM) provides secure, remote access to computers and servers. ROM supports network connections over a local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), or the Internet.

I too enjoy the logmein catalog of products. I initially used Free but have upgraded to using Rescue with virtually all of my clients. I've never had firewall issues either, which means a huge headache is lifted from me and my business.

One of the best thing for Remote Access i could find is http://rhubcom.com i searched on google it offers Web conferencing software for PC and Mac also support remote acess.
All you need for collaboration, seminars, training, remote support and marketing is in this box. One of my friend is also using it so i would prefer RHUB for Remote Access also.
