I would guess that Microsoft, being a pretty big company has many different groups that do things in different ways. Some are probably better than others, some are probably better organized for the specify thing they do and so on.
Books like Writing Solid Code by Steve Maguire, Code Complete by Steve McConnell and Rapid Development, also by McConnell may give you some insight on this (both of these authors had tenures at Microsoft and I think a lot of what they say in these books is based on that experience). Generally, you can look through books published by Microsoft Press and the ones mentioned above are probably a good starting point.
