How can I decrease the timeout in openStream?

Hi,

I have some code like this:
-------
URL target = new URL("..somewhere..");
target.openStream();
-------
But if "..somewhere.." doesn't exist the timeout is _very_ long and wait for about 5mins how can I decrease this?
