If you talking about opening these files with their associated applications, then search for Runtime.exec() in this forum and you'll find this question has been answered.

If you want to read their file formats and display them in your JFrame, then you can start by learning OLE Structured Storage, but you'll still have a lot of work to do (at least for doc and xls files).
