Beginner question

I am new in Java (moved from VB/ASP). I'm trying to create server-side application in JSP that extracts data from database and creates Comma delimited file. Is it possible to do it in Java? I mean to create and save *.txt file. It was pretty simple task in ASP, using FileSystemObject.
Any help would be appreciated.
