Mail problems

What's up with the snail pace of the mail lately?!
It's taking upwards of 3 minutes to send a message. The mail
screeen doens't load properly. Also sending, receiving and
retrieving mail looks like the 405 / 110 interchange in the
valley. It's getting to be a joke!
