Moving Images across the screen ?

Hey am building an application.. NOT AN APPLET... and i was wondering if anyone knew how to do the following:

1)Make a gif image move from point (10,30) to (100,200).
2)The pic must move in a smooth motion.
3)Is there any way one can set how fast it moves between the points.

Does anyone have any code for this. Thanks.. I tried the Java.sun.com site but it was just useless.. It just showed for an applet. Am not an expert in java so for me to see the similarities between the applplet cod eand application code is very difficult. I have a project due for next week and well I kinda need a crash course in Java animationa nd motion. Can anyonme help me? any kind of help would be grealty appreciated...
