Controlling the Layout of a disabled JComboBox

In our Project we have a guideline which says not editable widgets have a gray background and a black foreground.
JTextComponents allow to modify the text color by "setDisabledTextColor(Color c)". But we have a problem with JComboBox and JCheckBox.
Both does not allow for setting a disabled text color.
