security in applets

Posted by tejinder singh on March 07, 2001 at 12:20 PM

applets since they are designed for internet are desingned to be safe.In case of no security associated with an applet ,then you load an applet from internet ,it can access your local system files and probably trash your system.Hence for every applet there is an default security manager associated with it which prevents it from accessing any files from outside its codebase and documentbase.however no such security manager exists in case of an application so you can access local system files.however you can design your own security manager by implementing security manager interface and make the security manager for your applet .in that case your applet can acess your local system files.
