It seems that a whole host of problems were fixed once I stopped using the

frame.pack()

method. Once this is taken out the images loaded in were loaded much more nicely, instead of justified to the top of the layout, everything was centered.


> Why does the Border Layout manager always justify the icons, labels, etc. at the top of the specified location i.e. north, south, east, west, etc. How can I position the labels placed inside each location so that it will be more aesthetically positioned to my preference??
