Message:

Active X (new OCX controls) v Java

Posted by Rosie Smith on April 10, 2001 at 7:46 AM

Our company is trying to decide whether to utilize Active X controls within an Intranet/Internet solution we provide - for client end solutions.
What are the benefits / negatives of going either Active X or Java? (our technology in other areas uses both solutions)
Can you easily convert Active X technologies into Java solutions?
What kind of skill set is required?
Does one cost more than the other?
What sort of benefits would customers see?

Look forward to hearing from people on this subject. I am not a programmer but a Product Marketing Manager who needs to determine suitable 'client' strategy for use with our Intranet/Internet solution.

Thanks

Rosie Smith
