Message:

inline methods

Posted by Pompiliu Donescu on October 19, 2000 at 2:02 PM

hi all:
if you can, pls give me a glimpse on how the interpreter/compiler
works (in general) w/ re: inline methods.
for instance, in C++, there is the inline keyword that tells the
compiler to try to inline a method. since in java there is no such
thing, would a reasonably good compiler/interpreter do it when
appropriate. imho, it looks like a reasonable thing to do since a
lot of methods are simple accesses.
pls let me know what you think, or point me in the right direction
to read about the issue and try to make sense for myself.
thanks, Pompiliu.
